The
Foundation…Where Is Yours Located?

Psalms
41:1-3
God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging.
an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging.
When we think of a foundation, what
do we think of first? Well for most people, we might think of concrete, or
steel poles, maybe even drilling. But what about our spiritual foundation?
Where is it located? In Psalms, the psalmists acknowledges God as more than
enough to satisfy his needs both emotionally and psychologically. Recently, I
came to the realization that many times people suffer from heartbreak or from
let downs or even from everyday trials, is because of one simple fact…they don’t
set their foundation. Let me give you an example…I like to call it the molding
model. I want you to close your eyes and imagine yourself as a piece of clay.
Yes clay. Now imagine yourself on the potters wheel under the mighty hand of
God. Now in order for clay to be molded it has to be wet right? And when it’s
wet, it can be molded and manipulated into whatever the potter wants it to be.
But what happens when it dries? It’s unworkable…and the potter has to break
down the clay, mix it with water so that it can be “workable.” Now let’s apply
this same concept to the Christian life. You are the clay, your “water” is that
of the Holy Spirit. But let’s say something happens in life (aka. a broken
relationship, a failed job and etc.) and you start relying on yourself to get
through that situation. Guess what happens? Your reliance on God and on the
Holy Spirit slowly start deteriating and you replace God with something of less
importance than you realize. So what does God do? Now before I move forward, I
want the reader to understand, that God desires His very best for you and for
me. HE NEVER ALLOWS TRIALS WITHOUT HAVING A BIGGER PLAN!!! What God does, is He
has to break us down in order to bring us full circle back to Him. But only if
you allow Him to.
Mark how do I allow God to be the
foundation of my life? Well, you have to want it first. You have to acknowledge
the fact that you need God (not you) to bring about a miracle that can only
come from Him. Here’s the reality…when your foundation is built on Him, although
you will be shaken, you will not fail!!!! That’s right. If a house is built on
a rock, although it will be whipped by wind and water, but it will not fall!!!!
That’s right. When God is at the center of your storm, although you may hurt
and may experience things that are hard to cope with or handle, in order for
you to make it through the storm, your house has to be built on God’s Word and
His Word alone. (selah)
